Let’s Talk About Anxiety—And Why It Deserves a Seat at the Table

Anxiety has a way of creeping in without knocking. It shows up in our morning routines, during conversations with friends, in the quiet moments when we’re just trying to breathe. It’s the quickened heartbeat before a presentation, the sleepless night before a big life change, the subtle (or not-so-subtle) undercurrent of worry that hums in the background of daily life.

And here’s the truth: it’s normal.

Somewhere along the way, anxiety became something we whisper about. Something we tuck under the rug, pretend doesn’t exist, or brush off with a forced smile and the words, “I’m fine.” But what if we stopped trying so hard to silence it? What if we treated anxiety like a guest at the table, not a monster in the closet?

Anxiety isn’t a flaw. It’s not a failure or a weakness. It’s a response. A signal. A very human reaction to the world around us. Sometimes it’s loud and overwhelming; sometimes it’s subtle and confusing. Either way, it’s a part of life—and for many of us, it’s a familiar part.

Normalizing anxiety doesn’t mean glorifying it or pretending it’s fun. It means acknowledging that it exists without shame. It means being able to say, “I’m feeling anxious today,” and not having to follow it up with an apology or explanation. It means holding space for each other when the weight of the world feels heavy, and recognizing that sometimes the most courageous thing we can do is be honest about how we’re doing.

When we normalize anxiety, we give ourselves permission to be human. We start to see that we’re not alone in our racing thoughts or nervous energy. We stop judging ourselves so harshly and start leaning into compassion instead.

And perhaps most importantly, we create room for real connection. For deeper understanding. For the kind of empathy that reminds us we’re not meant to go through life pretending to be okay all the time.

So if today feels heavy, uncertain, or overwhelming—know that you’re in good company. This conversation matters. Keep it going.

Let’s make space for the whole of who we are—anxiety and all.
